Listen4Insight

Created: Fall 2018 - Spring 2019

The following project served as my Computer Science capstone and was completed during my senior year at Miami University. For this project, I was working as part of a three person team tasked with updating and redesigning the Listen4Insight website for the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute. During the fall semester, we worked on updating the old site to handle new content types and created plans for the redesign. The spring semester focused on implementing the redesign and on training students in the Leadership Institute on how to manage the new site.

Initial Sketches

During the first semester, our team worked simultaneously on updating the code in the old site to allow for new content types and on creating designs for the new website that we would create in the spring semester.  My main role during this stage of our project involved addressing several bugs in the code of the current site and in working on creating sketches and wireframes for the updated design.  Our client, the Executive Director of the program, wanted the design to remain similar to the original website but be more visually appealing, cleaner, and feel modern.

Wireframes

Once we had presented the sketches to our client and had gotten feedback, we began work on creating wireframes of the final visual design plans for the new website.  I took on the role of turning the sketches I had made into a few sample screens showcasing our plans for the new design so that we could present them to the client before the end of the semester.

Final Product

Our team spent the spring semester implementing the final approved design in a new website using Wordpress and PHP.  Once the solution was built, we concentrated on training students in the program on how to manage the website once we had graduated.  The layout of pages changed a bit as we discovered limitations and new abilities within our approach at the solution, but made sure they kept inline with the ideas behind the original redesigns.
